Celebrities that need laser tattoo removal

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Every day there seems to be a news story on a celebrity and their newest tattoo. A few years ago it was Angelina Jolie and her Billy Bob Thorton tattoo. Recently, John Mayer seems to have indulged by getting full sleeve tattoos. Some websites devote themselves to cataloging celebrity tattoos.

One of the things that is missing is a list of celebrities that might need tattoos removed! Not that we’d make the decisions for them… but can you really say that Dennis Rodman needs all of his body art? In case the post-basketball career of… whatever it is that he is doing now doesn’t work, he might need to clean up his act to get a real job.

What do I do to my skin after a laser tattoo removal treatment?

Friday, December 5th, 2008

One of the most important components of our free consultation for laser tattoo removal is the aftercare instructions. We provide all the information you will need to take care of your skin after a tattoo removal session. The instructions are fairly simple and include keeping the area covered with a guaze pad for three days while applying neosporin over the area three times a day. After the three days, leave the area open to the air and allow it dry out so that it heals up faster. Also, do not soak the area in water until all the scabbing and blistering is completely healed. You may take a shower like normal just minimize the amount of water in the treated area. There are several other suggestions in our aftercare instructions that we will provide during your laser treatment that can be viewed on our website.

How will my skin look after laser tattoo removal?

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

After you have completed all your sessions to remove your tattoo at New Look Laser Tattoo Removal in Houston, your skin should get back to its normal self. Most of our clients only need three to six months after their final laser treatment to get their skin back to its original form. There are very, very few exceptions and those involve people who already have scarring from getting the tattoo in the first place. You can figure out if you fit this very rare situation by examining your tattoo prior to your laser tattoo removal treatments. If your tattoo is already raised when you touch it then you may notice skin that is a little lighter in color and that resembles scar tissue after your treatment. Our laser treatments we use for tattoo removal do not remove scarring that you already have from getting the tattoo in the first place but they do not cause more scarring either. If you don’t have a raised tattoo then your skin should get back to normal after it completely heals following your laser tattoo removal treatments.

Healing Time After Your Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

A very common question that we get here at New Look is how long does it take for the skin to heal after a laser treatment. A short answer is that most of the healing takes place within the first 72 hours but it can take up to one to two weeks to heal completely after your first treatment and then it takes less time with each session. Here are some of the key factors that affect time of healing after a laser tattoo removal treatment:

1. How many treatments have you had?
2. How dense is the ink in your tattoo?
3. Are both the wavelengths of light needed for your laser tattoo removal treatment?
4. How well does your immune system respond to injury?

You will tend to heal faster and faster as you progress through your treatments. After your first laser tattoo removal session you may take from one week to two weeks to heal completely. After your second treatment it may only take you five days. After your third maybe only three days until you heal within 24 hours of your last treatment. As you progress in the number of treatments you have had, you have less ink which has a result of less damage to the skin.

Density of the ink is important because the more dense your tattoo is, the more the laser energy is absorbed and the longer it takes to heal. With a very old tattoo that is not very dense, it may only take five days to heal even after your first treatment.

If we go over your tattoo with both the 1064nm and the 532nm wavelength of light (usually because of colors or very, very faded black) it may take longer for you to heal as well. For instance, if you have a black tattoo that has been lasered four times to the point where it is very, very faded, we may decide to add the 532nm as well to get the last bit out. Since you have had two lasers go over the same area you will probably require slightly longer to heal than the previous treatment when we only used one.

The last thing that is important to talk about is the immune system. If your immune system is good shape because you are healthy then you will follow the general rule that it takes one to two weeks to heal after your first treatment and then less time as your treatments progress. However, if you have diabetes or other health problems it could take you slighty longer. Not to worry, everyone is usually healed, including having no scabs, after the first month. Most of the healing is done within the first 72 hours.
